Ball O' Fringe

I've had a very large orange paper halloween lantern for years now, and I've always wanted to re-purpose it into something I could use year round but never knew what to do...
until I came across this super adorable blog Oh Happy Day.

I love the little lanterns she made and decided that I could totally do that with the big lantern.

I started with the black and then went to navy blue and finished with baby blue. The transition isn't as subtle as I wanted originally but I am still quite pleased with it.

It now resides above our dining table.




Isn't crepe paper amazing?

I ordered every color The Crepe Paper Store had in stock.

And the shipping took no time at all which is awesome. love it!

By the Power of Greyskull

We welcomed a shiny new member to our family last month.



Nope, it's not a baby, but it is currently our pride and joy...



we bought a Jeep!



isn't she a beauty? or is it a he? I don't know. but I do know that it's awesome!

We've already taken it on few trips up the beach, to Salmon Lake, and atop Anvil Mountain...

if that's not an epic Jeep advertisement, I don't know what is. 






I don't think we will be testing it's strength like the dudes on One Car Too Far any time soon. 
Although that show is amazeballs and I have a whole new respect and appreciation for our Jeep.

Seriously, this is a dream come true for me.
I have wanted a Jeep Wrangler ever since Cher Horowitz had one on Clueless, 
and I'm pretty sure she wasn't driving a manual in platform heels. just sayin'.

Nomemade Cookbook

Today I want to give a big shout out to my friends Kim and Lynn who are releasing a cookbook in September. The book is called Nomemade and it features recipes influenced by their Vietnamese heritage and locally grown ingredients, including Alaskan King Crab, Muskox, Moose, Tundra berries and Salmon.


Over the past 5 years I've had the privilege of eating in Kim's home and experiencing her cooking. From Sunday night dinners to Thanksgiving and Christmas, there is always something home grown to eat and it's always delicious. She has even taught me how to make Spring Rolls. I have also snagged a jar or two (or 10) of the always amazing Cran-Banana Jam. I would buy it by the gallon if I could.

I am so excited about this project and will definitely post when their book becomes available.
